About Me
I was born and raised in Bismarck, North Dakota to an educator and a cattle rancher. A love of learning, the outdoors and living creatures are woven into the very fiber of my being. Coming from a relatively large family of five children, I joyfully guide my younger siblings in their journey through life and strive to do the same for my students. Teaching swimming lessons to young children in high school affirmed my love for helping others learn new skills.
Attending North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota offered me the gift of learning about science from some of the best educators in the state and living in a larger, more diverse community. I treasure the experiences I had in Fargo and learned about growing into a well-rounded, independent and motivated person. While in Fargo, I had job experiences in a variety of sectors. I worked for a research lab on campus, was a special effects manager for the Dakota Stage, a phlebotomist, and eventually worked for an area hospital as a Certified Nurses Assistant. The completion of my degree led me back to Bismarck, to be closer to my family. Eventually I left the hospital to pursue a graduate degree in education after substitute teaching reignited my passion for teaching. I have been employed with Bismarck Public Schools over the course of obtaining my graduate degree, as the PAES (Practical Assessment Evaluation System) instructional aide at Bismarck High School. In this position I assist students on IEP OR 504 plans with vocational training.
In my free time I love to paint, read, garden, do yoga, play volleyball on a summer and winter league, raise house plants, cook and bake, spend time with my family, husband, two dogs and cat, play board games, ride my bike, watch films, do DIY home projects, travel to new states (I have been to 19!) and visit national parks around the United States to hike and camp.
